Southern Morocco Tour

Day 2: Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate

After breakfast, leave Marrakech behind and begin your journey into southern Morocco. Cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, enjoying changing landscapes, mountain villages and panoramic views along the way.

Continue to Aït Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most famous fortified villages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take time to explore its narrow passages and traditional earthen architecture and walk up through the ancient ksar for beautiful views over the surrounding landscape.

In the afternoon, continue to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to southern Morocco, where you will spend the night.

Day 3: Ouarzazte → Boumalen Dades → Todra Gorges

After breakfast, leave Ouarzazate and travel towards the palm-filled oasis of Skoura, where you will visit the beautiful Kasbah Amridil, one of southern Morocco’s best-preserved kasbahs and a wonderful example of traditional earthen architecture.

Continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs towards Boumalne Dades and explore the spectacular Dades Gorges, surrounded by dramatic rock formations and winding mountain roads.

In the afternoon, continue towards Todra Gorges, where towering canyon walls rise dramatically on either side of the valley. Take time for a walk through the gorge before settling into your accommodation for the night.

Day 4: Todgha Gorges → Tinjdad → Sahara

After breakfast, leave Todra Gorges and continue south towards Khorbat, where you will visit the Oasis Museum (Musée des Oasis / Berber Museum) and discover more about traditional Amazigh life, architecture, crafts and culture in southern Morocco.

Continue to Erfoud, a desert town well known for its dates and fossils, before travelling towards the golden dunes of the Sahara.

In the afternoon, arrive at the edge of the dunes and get ready for one of the journey’s most memorable experiences. Meet your camels and ride across the sand as the sun begins to set over the Sahara.

Reach your desert camp, enjoy a traditional dinner and spend the evening beneath the stars before settling in for the night among the dunes.

Day 5: Sahara → Agdz (Drâa Valley)

From the Sahara to the Drâa Valley

After breakfast, leave the golden dunes of Merzouga behind and continue your journey through the remote landscapes of southern Morocco.

Travel through Rissani, Alnif and Tazzarine, passing rocky desert plains, small villages and beautiful mountain scenery along the way. As you approach Agdz, the landscape gradually changes and the lush palm groves of the Drâa Valley begin to appear.

Arrive in Agdz, a peaceful oasis town surrounded by mountains and date palms. Settle into your accommodation and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of one of southern Morocco’s most beautiful valleys.

Day 6: Agdz → Taliuoine → Taroudant

After breakfast, leave Agdz and continue west through the beautiful landscapes of southern Morocco. The journey takes you through changing scenery, from rocky mountains and remote villages to the fertile valleys of the south.

Stop in Taliouine, a small town known as the heart of Morocco's saffron-growing region. Depending on the season and your interests, take some time to learn more about this precious spice and the local traditions surrounding its cultivation.

Continue through the landscapes of the Souss region towards Taroudant. Surrounded by impressive ochre-coloured walls, Taroudant has a relaxed atmosphere and offers a more local glimpse of Moroccan city life.

After arriving, settle into your accommodation and, if time allows, enjoy an evening walk through the souks and old town.

Day 7: Taroudant → Marrakech

After breakfast, enjoy a final glimpse of Taroudant before leaving the south behind and beginning your journey back towards Marrakech.

Travel through the Souss Valley, passing fertile agricultural landscapes, traditional villages and changing mountain scenery. Continue across the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying beautiful views along the way as the landscape gradually changes once again.

Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon and settle into your riad or hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax or head into the medina for an evening among the colourful souks and lively atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna.

Day 8: Explore Marrkech 

After breakfast, meet your local guide and set out to discover the history, culture and vibrant atmosphere of Marrakech.

Visit the impressive Koutoubia Mosque, one of the city's most iconic landmarks, before exploring the beautiful Bahia Palace, known for its elegant courtyards, colourful tiles and traditional Moroccan architecture.

Continue into the heart of the medina to visit the historic Ben Youssef Madrasa, one of Marrakech's architectural treasures. Wander through the lively souks and narrow streets before reaching the famous Jemaa el-Fna, where storytellers, musicians, food stalls and everyday life come together in the heart of the city.

After the guided tour, enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace.

Day 9: Fly Back Home

Today, it is time to say goodbye to Morocco. We will arrange your transfer to the airport in time for your flight home.
